The first half of 2021 was a bonanza for climate tech. According to Climate Tech VC, there were more than 250 deals totaling some $16 billion invested in climate tech startups, nearly as much as all of last year.

But investment alone isn't enough. The breadth of technology needed to achieve net zero requires a collective effort -- unprecedented collaboration that spans specialties, industries and geographies.

In particular, partnerships between large enterprises and startups are vital. By leveraging each other's strengths, they can accelerate innovation and get it into market. A multinational like MHI Group can draw on its engineering experience across various industries around the world to help startups develop, commercialize and scale their breakthroughs.

"It's time to step up and work with startups to create a new, decarbonized world," says Ricky Sakai, Vice President of New Business Development at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, who's helping to lead investments in new technologies.

This short video features four such collaborations and highlights their impact on decarbonization, from affordable methods of producing clean hydrogen and ammonia to expanding the market for CO2 reuse.
